Helpful Tips To Take The Pressure Off | Call Free: 1-888-2362295

The Pressurized Walls was invented to provide a solution to the skyrocketing prices and scarcity of space in New York City rental apartments.  A Pressurized Wall is a temporary wall built to add an extra bedroom, a home office or even a walk-in closet. The temporary wall is stable and very strong.

The walls are built with reams of 1/2" to 5/8" sheet rock (plasterboard) and  metal 2x3's or 2x4's. After the frame-out process, 1 1/4" sheet rock screws are used to attach the drywall to the pressurized 2x4's that contact the floor, the ceiling and the sides of the apartment’s walls.  Only screws are used on the studs in order to prevent any damage to the apartment. No additional fasteners or adhesives are used.

Generally, hollow-core doors or French-style doors are recommended to prevent weight overload. The walls are generally painted the same color as existing walls to blend in with the rest of the apartment. Many landlords allow tenants to construct pressurized walls as long as tenants remove the walls at the end of the lease.

What type of wall to build?
CityWallNY builds from scratch therefore the design choice is almost unlimited. We have built every possible design you can imagine from regular straight walls to T-shaped walls, L-shaped walls and other letters in the alphabet.
Options can also include French doors, windows, sound insulation, light panels, air vents and custom painting and staining. Adding options raises the price so it’s basically a function of your budget and needs.

How to I decide what company to use?
All the top wall builders use basically the same materials and build the walls in the same fashion. However, the prices from one builder to another can differ by as much as a $1,000 for the same type of wall. So you do need to shop around. At CityWallNY we not only give you the best price, but also takes pride in customer service, reliability and professionalism. CityWallNY will respond to your inquiry almost immediately and put everything in writing. Our installers are professional, efficient and courteous and clean up once they are finished.
CityWallNY is fully insured and this is important since most landlords require an insurance certificate that protects both the landlord and tenant from damages.

Make sure to get your removal agreement in writing.  CityWallNY provides you with a written removal contract upon completion of your wall and will remove the walls we build at no additional cost.
