16. What to look for when choosing a Pressurized Wall Company?
1. What is the difference between a real wall and a pressurized wall?
A real wall is permanently attached to the floor, walls and ceiling with screws and adhesives and its removal can cause damage to the apartment. A pressurized wall is a temporary wall that stays up with pressure like a car jack. It can be quickly built to create an extra room or space and just as easily removed. The wall is built using drywall, (also know as sheetrock) metal and wood studs. The walls are first framed-out with studs to fit the space to be enclosed and then the drywall is attached to the studs. Today’s pressurized walls are constructed and designed to look very much like the regular walls in your apartment.
2. What does the pressurized wall look like?
Beautiful. It blends so well with the original space that visitors will never know the difference. We can match your baseboards and colors to make the pressurized wall indistinguishable from the real walls in the apartment. The walls are 4½" thick, the same as most walls in apartment buildings.
3. How long does it take to install the wall?
Approximately 4-5 hours total time in the apartment for a standard straight wall. However, depending on the size, shape and options, it may take up to a full day or even two.

4. How soundproof is the wall?
If you live in a modern building the soundproofing is about equal to that of the real wall dividing your living room from your bedroom. We can provide noise-reducing insulation.
5. What if I require a wall that is not standard?
Because our partitions are customized, we are flexible and offer a variety of shapes and sizes and can accommodate almost any configuration you may need. One of our professional sales staff will assist you in a free, no obligation, onsite estimate.
6. My ceiling seems very high. Can you go higher than the standard 8' ceiling?
Yes. We can accommodate ceiling heights up to 13'.

7. My building doesn’t have an elevator, is that a problem?
No problem at all, our competent crews can haul the materials up the stairs.
8. What color are the walls?
Walls will be painted with a variety of white shades in a flat finish at no additional cost. Custom colors or finishes will be charged accordingly. You have the option to paint the partition yourself with any color or finish you like.
9. What can I hang on the wall?
There is a recommended limit of 20 lbs per side. We do not suggest you put up shelves or mount a television set on our wall without consulting us first. If you plan to hang something very heavy on the wall, for an extra charge we can build the wall in such a way that it will safely hold up the weight.

10. Do you hang flat screens on the wall?
Yes, it is a possibility of having your wall and TV mounted on the same day.
11. Can you build the wall on the same day that I move in?
Not recommended. Everyone will be in each other’s way. We can try to install the wall before you move in, or else after. In any case, our installers need three feet of clear space on either side of the planned wall in order to work.
12. How wide are the standard doors?
The standard doors we install are 30" x 80". We can customize the width and height to accommodate the handicapped.

13. What if I need more than just a straight wall?
Because our partitions are customized, we can accommodate almost any configuration you may need.
14. How do I get started?
First, contact your building to secure permission and find out if they have special requirements or need us to supply an insurance certificate. Or, call us; we probably already have all the information needed. We are fully insured, licensed by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs and all our work is guaranteed.
15. Can the walls be transferred into another apartment?
No, since the floors and ceilings are not consistently level. However, if you require a pressurized wall in your next apartment we can utilize some of the materials and offer a better rate.
16.What to look for when choosing a Pressurized Wall Company?
Make sure the company has liability insurance. (We do.) Choose a company that specializes in Pressurized Walls. (We do nothing but pressurized walls.) Hiring the local handyman could be a bad mistake. Make sure the company has a website with photos of some of the walls they have built. And make sure there are no “hidden fees” such as removal fees or painting fees. (We give you everything in writing in advance therefore there are no unpleasant surprises, only a pleasant one when you see your finished wall.)
